One of the most consistent messages to be read into most surveys of passengers' opinions of bus services is that punctuality and reliability matter most. Fares levels are a major concern, as is personal security, and comfort and the availability of features like free WiFi are widely appreciated. But if the bus does not come when you expect it - especially if inconsistency is the only consistent feature - and fails to deliver you to your destination within an acceptable margin of the advertised arrival time, then the bus starts looking like a bad option.
