Nine years on, Alexander Dennis has unveiled a completely new version of its Enviro400, the UK's best selling double-decker. As Paul Heels's analysis of 2013 deliveries shows (see p29), the existing model accounted for 42.1% of sales - more than 11 percentage points ahead of next placed Volvo - and captured over half the market when those with Scania chassis are added into the equation. And that is just the UK. There also is a Hong Kong version and a North American open-top sightseeing model, all playing their part in generating £541million of sales last year -almost half from overseas - and a profit of £20million, much of which is being invested in an ambitious new product development programme.
