Geoff Rixon, photographer and Routemaster preservationist

Geoff Rixon, owner of one of the first London Routemasters sold for private preservation and a long-time contributor of quality colour photographs published in Buses, died at Kingston Hospital on 18 December a week after suffering a stroke. He was 84. From the age of three, he lived in East Molesey south west of London. He became interested in trains in 1943 and took up photography in 1947 when film was in short supply. Around the early 1950s buses also fired his imagination and he photographed many buses and trolleybuses in his immediate area of south-west London and north-west Surrey.
