One low-floor bus that nearly made it to the UK was the Orion Ⅱ, a Canadian-built front-engined minibus. Aimed mainly at paratransit and dial-a-ride in North America, it was available from 1984 in either 22ft or 26ft (6/7m or 8m) lengths. But at 8ft wide, it was too big for London Dial-a-Ride, while the superior materials from which it was constructed made it excessively expensive.
