Lea Valley closure prompts major reshuffle of routes

A major reshuffle has been forced on Arriva London with the forthcoming closure of its Lea Valley Garage - at the far end of a trading estate in Leeside Road, Northumberland Park - following compulsory acquisition by the National Grid. It opened in 2004 as a home for articulated Mercedes-Benz Citaros introduced on the 73 (Victoria-Stoke Newington) worked by Tottenham Garage, which could not accommodate such long buses. It went on to gain other routes and enabled the downgrading of Edmonton Garage, becoming an MoT centre, with no routes operated. Its space was also useful for assembling withdrawn articulated buses awaiting disposal.
