CMA clears Stagecoach Plymouth purchase

The Competition & Markets Authority has cleared Stagecoach South West's September acquisition of First's Plymouth operations (Buses last month). Of the 26 new Stagecoach vehicles due early next year, 21 will be Enviro400 MMC double-deckers and five Enviro200 MMC single-deckers for its new Plymouth, Tavistock and Dartmouth bases. The Enviro400s are for routes 1/X1 (Plymouth-Tavistock), 3 (Plymouth-Dartmouth) and 100/101 (George Junction and Milehouse park-&-ride) while the Enviro200s are for 200 (Coypool park-&-ride). They will replace the 12 Plymouth park-Stride vehicles on loan from First and cascaded ALX400 Tridents on the 1/X1 and 3. All loan vehicles have First branding covered by small Stagecoach fleetnames on the sides. Stagecoach branding immediately replaced First's at Plymouth depot while First's bus station travel office has become a National Express outlet.
