Phil Margrave (60), who retired last year after six years as Go-Ahead Group's engineering director, died unexpectedly on 28 April. Margrave (pictured below) joined London Transport in 1971 as an apprentice, in 1989 became engineering director at newly created London General and five years later was part of the management buyout team that acquired the company when the London Buses subsidiaries were privatised.
