Albions return to South Street

In March 'Tales', Martin Curtis took us back to Eastern Way, Lowestoft and traces of the Eastern Coach Works factory that Leyland closed in 1987. Here are scenes from another lost landscape of Leyland. On the invitation of Ian Maclean, registrar of the Albion Club and the man who compiled this magazine's Scottish Column from 1953 to 1965, I travelled to South Street in Scotstoun, Glasgow on 12 April for an event recalling the glory days of Albion Motors whose factory once stretched almost a quarter of a mile along that street in one of the hearts of Clyde shipbuilding and engineering.
