Green livery revived as NatEx takes over in Malta

Malta's buses will once again be painted green and white in a nod to how they were identified between 1973 and 1995. The new Malta Public Transport livery is being introduced following confirmation that Autobuses de Leon, part of National Express Group's Spanish arm ALSA, would take over the island state's bus service on 8 January, just over a year after Deutsche Bahn-owned Arriva pulled out of its troubled 10-year contract. The service has been operated directly by MPT in the interim, with hired-in private buses supplementing the main fleet of leased and ex-Arriva vehicles. The NatEx company was cleared to take over after a court turned down a request by rejected bidder Island Buses Malta (Global News last month) that the government be prevented from signing the new agreement.
