Russian ban shuts down trailer maker Goeppel

German bus and drawbar trailer maker Goeppel has gone into liquidation for the second time in two years following a recent Russian ban on imported Western complete buses (Global News last month). The import embargo took effect on 1 November in reaction to Western sanctions against Moscow over the Ukraine crisis. It applies to Goeppel even though Russian-based industrial holding Kirovsky Zavod saved the firm in 2013 (Global News, May 2013). Kirovsky Zavod hoped to market Goeppel products throughout eastern Europe.
