Geneva on course for flash-charge route in 2018

Geneva public transport operator TPG has placed a £12million order with Swiss bus manufacturer Hess and electric traction specialist ABB for the first whole route operation of the TOSA flash-charge electric bus system from 2018. First demonstrated during trie UITP international public transport exhibition in the Swiss city in 2013, TOSA (Trolleybus Optimisation Systeme Alimentation) uses flash charging to power electric buses without requiring overhead wires. Hess will build 12 electric bendybuses to convert TPG route 23 from diesel power. The orbital route links the airport with many suburban areas without crossing the city centre.
