End of the road for Silcox?

One of the longest established independent bus operators in Wales, Silcox of Pembroke Dock, faced an uncertain future as we closed for press. Edwards of Llantwit Fardre took over all 28 of Silcox's Pembrokeshire Council school contracts from 6 June, as Silcox sought a buyer in in attempt to stave off filing for administration. The council was considering making separate arrangements to continue 18 tendered public bus services operated by Silcox. Silcox began as a saddler and bicycle shop in 1882 and moved into bus operation in 1923. It expanded during World War 2 and the postwar period of national service to support the naval dockyard in the town and latterly had around 80 vehicles and 100 staff.
