Over the past 20 years, Stagecoach has expanded Devon General from Torbay, Exeter and east Devon across the county and into Cornwall, Somerset and Dorset. South West Falcon, its bold and ambitious coach link launched on 14 February connecting Plymouth, Exeter, Taunton, Bridgwater, Bristol Airport and Bristol pushes its boundaries even farther into north Somerset and Bristol. Promoted as a cost effective alternative to the train, the 122mile route has 19 daily journeys each way - hourly daytimes and two-hourly at night - using a £2.5million fleet of eight striking new 61-seat 15m Plaxton Elite-bodied Volvo B11R tri-axles. Unlike existing National Express and Megabus.com routes, no town centres (except termini) are served, with all stops on or near the M5 and predominantly dual carriageway A38. This achieves end-to-end journeys of just 3hr 15min.
