RATP Dev is looking to acquire or seek partnerships with sightseeing bus operators as part of a plan to turn its new Extrapolitan brand into the world's leading city tour operator. The French public-sector transport operator that owns London United, London Sovereign, Yellow Buses in Bournemouth and Selwyns of Runcorn in addition to the Original London Sightseeing Tour and Bath Bus Company plans to double its turnover in the sightseeing market within five years. The new umbrella operation, Extrapolitan (Look in on London last month), aims to expand on two fronts simultaneously. In the biggest cities it will look for acquisitions or organic growth, while in smaller and medium-sized cities it will seek partnerships with new or existing tour operators, working on a licence model.
