As the passenger representative on Derby City Council's Bus Partnership, I would like to reply to John Disney's letter (You Write last month), particularly with regard to his comments on Derby bus station. He seems to find fault with everything local but puts on his rose-tinted spectacles when visiting Yorkshire. Services in the Yorkshire conurbations cannot be compared with those in semi-rural mid-Derbyshire, especially given that PTEs have been better funded than shire counties. Services within Derby city are predominantly high-quality commercial services, which compare well with those in PTE areas. The oldest vehicles in regular use on these are 58-registered.
