Groups step in after Tates ceases trading

Arriva, Stagecoach and Wellglade subsidiaries stepped in with replacement services at short notice after South Yorkshire independent Tates Travel ceased trading on 9 February. Tates, based at Barugh Green near Barnsley, was fined £18,150 after a public inquiry on 6 October when the operator licence of sister company South Yorkshire Rider was revoked, but the traffic commissioner suspended the fine a month later, having been satisfied that the same sum of money was being invested in measures to improve the quality of its services.
