MUNICIPAL TRANSPORT AT ITS BEST

Having spent two days exploring the far reaches of Majorca on the red and yellow buses of Transports de les Illes Balears (TIB), I am now about to sample the major operator on the island, Empressa Municipal de Transports Urbans de Palma de Mallorca - EMT for short - the council-owned blue buses that provide the local network in and around Palma. Visitors probably use this system a lot less than the TIB routes, although many will experience service 1, which connects the airport with the city centre and the port. EMT serves all the seaside resorts of Illetes, Can Pastilla and s'Arenal exclusively. The network radiates from the centre of Palma like rays of sunshine extending at their farthest about 8km from the city centre. Therefore my taster of EMT cannot be a circular tour although I have tried to schedule in as many of the services I can in a short period.
