Passengers in the German city of Frankfurt appear to be enthusiastic about double-deckers after trials on city streets (Global News, February). Of 400 passengers asked, 95% of those who chose the top deck said they liked travelling upstairs. 'This is a clear indication of what passengers want,' traffic department head Stefan Majer told the Frankfurter Allgemeine newspaper. The survey follows evaluation in service of an elderly MAN, followed a month later by a tri-axle 13.7m DL-class double-decker on loan from Berlin operator BVG. The three-door MAN plied route 34, which is the preserve of articulated buses. City operator TraffiQ now plans to evaluate modern 12m double-deckers.
