It is close to 54 years now since the last trolleybuses ran in London, one of the routes running up to the final day, 9 May 1962, being the 601 (Twickenham-Tolworth via Surbiton). Most people who remember them will now be over 60, but Gavin Booth was pleased to find, on a recent visit to Surbiton, that at least one business in the commuter town regards them with sufficient fondness to incorporate a wall display of pictures of a 601 within its prominent premises. It's the local branch of Churchod's, which sells houses across Surrey, though as he points out there are a few clues to this not being a 601 operating back in the day.
