In calling for financial incentives to be made available to highway authorities that prioritise public transport, Stagecoach chief executive Martin Griffiths has highlighted what most needs to be addressed in the management of our bus services. For the Buses Bill may be the topic de jour as more details of its expected content are drip fed by government, but the far more pressing issue in desperate need of being addressed is urban traffic congestion. Anecdotal evidence - and a few sets of revealing figures - tells us that this is getting worse, and at a worryingly rapid pace.
