Blackpool orders Enviro400 City

Blackpool Transport has become the first customer outside London to order the Enviro400 City double-decker with styling influenced by the New Routemaster. It is spending over £2million on 10 to replace a mix of Volvo Olympian double-deckers and Optare Solo midibuses on service 9 (Blackpool-Cleveleys). They will be the council-owned company's first new double-deckers for 10 years and complete the conversion of its front-line fleet to low-floor vehicles. They also will be the first single-door pure diesel versions of the Enviro400 City, which Alexander Dennis launched at Coach & Bus Live on 30 September with an initial order from Arriva London for 19 two-door hybrids. These will wear the new Palladium livery that Blackpool Transport introduced last year on a batch of new Mercedes-Benz Citaros and will be built to a 72-seat layout with wood- effect floors, e-Leather seats, WiFi and USB charging points.
