West Midlands and Merseyside strike alliances

Two English city regions - West Midlands and Merseyside - have agreed bus alliances with their major operators. The West Midlands partnership, led by transport authority Centro, will see operators and partners invest £150million on fleet renewal and infrastructure by 2021, with the aim of increasing bus patronage by 5%, limiting fares rises to no more than 1% above the retail price index and the introduction of discounted travel for all under-19s.
