Also on a UK export drive was Mellor, the Rochdale-based minibus builder whose Woodall Nicolson Group parent company is chaired by former Plaxton chief executive Brian Davidson. In one of its earlier incarnations, Mellor was active in the small public bus market towards the end of the post-deregulation rninibus boom in the UK, but its core business has been supplying vehicles for the welfare market and emergency services. Over the past four years, it has expanded and enlargement of the Rochdale factory will increase production capacity to between 400 and 500 vehicles a year.
