If your bus interest excludes those operated before any of us were born, make an exception for this book of many more words than pictures, which provides a lesson from history as today's bus industry embraces electrification. Surprisingly little has been published about Edwardian battery electric buses, perhaps because there were only a couple of dozen of them in a couple of places; and they were eclipsed by the rapid rise of petrol power, later also by trolleybuses. But this tale researched and written by transport journalist Mike Hamer is an extraordinary one.
