This Amberley album covers part of the period surveyed by Paul Williams in his north-west England book, focusing on the impact of deregulation mainly on the established operators running in 1985. Although services remained regulated until 1986, the Scottish Bus Group prepared for it by restructuring its operations from seven to 11 regional companies and the bulk of the book is devoted to the early years of those companies up to and just beyond privatisation in 1990/91.
