Founded: 1919 by Arthur Skill Jnr, who collected fresh fish for his father's shop in Radford and offered general haulage (continued to 1960s). Request from miners led Bestwood Colliery service and the first proper bus arrived 1921. Depot in St Peter's Street acquired 1928, replaced by present site 2002. Skills Holidays became limited company 1958 and renamed Skills Leisure 2002. Stuart Skill took over 1979 on death of his father, and his son Nigel left to take over Alex Smith Coachways of Beeston. When Stuart emigrated 1988, Nigel bought company and integrated Alex Smith business into it.
