By coincidence, this picture album from Amberley provides a factual accompaniment to Desmond Ward's novel set on Bristol's buses. While it is primarily about the country services rather than city routes, there is a little overlap, as the Bristol Omnibus Company's city buses with C-prefixed fleetnumbers sometimes worked country routes and country buses could stray similarly on to city workings. In Mike Walker, it has an author relied upon to know his subject inside out and provide a combination of informative text and interesting photographs depicting the vehicles and many of the services on which they operated across Bristol and large adjoining parts of Somerset, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire.
