Ten independent operators helped Go North West maintain what it says were near normal services across its 16-route network in Greater Manchester when members of the Unite union began an indefinite strike on 1 March. Atlantic Travel, Belle Vue, Bullocks, Mostonian, MP Travel and Selwyns were joined by Red Rose, The Travellers' Choice and Tyrers from Lancashire and The Big Coach Company from Liverpool, with a mixture of single- and double-deck buses and some accessible coaches. For simplicity, there was a £1 flat fare for passengers paying with cash. Season tickets and passes were accepted as normal.
