Free concessionary bus travel could be one of the major issues in next year's mayoral election, with Conservative candidate Shaun Baily proposing to raise the qualifying age while current mayor Sadiq Khan intends to leave it unchanged. At last year's Conservative Party conference, Baily introduced his Manifesto for London. Among measures proposed by delegates were raising the qualifying age for the Freedom Pass from 60 to 75 and scrapping Khan's recently introduced Hopper fare. This prompted a motion to the London Assembly's meeting on 6 June, proposed by Labour member Andrew Dismore, supporting Khan's intention to keep both policies firmly in place.
