PRESERVATION UPDATE

Among the attractions of the Great North Steam Fair at the Beamish open air museum in Co. Durham on 11 to 14 April was a visit from BD 209, the 1921 Leyland Charabus restored by Mike Sutcliffe and now owned by The Shuttleworth Collection in Bedfordshire. The solid-tyred 32-seat Leyland G7 was originally in the United Counties fleet and was photographed alongside Blackpool & Fleetwood Electric Tramroad tram 40, on loan from Crich Tramway Village until the end of August. The United Electric Car Company built this 44-seat 'box' saloon in 1914.
