Bus patronage is made up of five types of passengers: 1. Schoolchildren and students. 2. Commuters. 3. Local workers. 4. Concessionary pass holders. 5. Leisure. School, college and university passengers will return quickly once the vaccine has been introduced. Commuters are a different matter, and that segment of the market will not return to pre-Covid level. I am expecting around a 65% reduction. Instead, more people will work from home or only go into the office a couple of days a week or even a month. There will be far more flexibility on hours, with some passengers travelling earlier or later. There will be more part-time working too. This is not new. Covid has just greatly accelerated the change.
