Daimler suspends Setra coach production

A lack of orders caused by the pandemic has led Daimler to suspend production at the Setra coach plant at Neu-Ulm in Germany until at least early new year. 'We have received practically no orders at all since March,' Daimler Buses production head Michael Klein told the Bhein-Neckar- Zeitung newspaper. Around 1,200 of the 3,800 staff have been laid off but are still being paid, partly by the state. Orders for city and interurban buses are holding up and Klein says there are no plans to reduce output at the main Mercedes-Benz bus plant in Mannheim.
