Though widely predicted, the slow return of bus usage following the initial lockdown is causing me -and much of the commercial bus sector - great anguish. The resurgence in patronage from the low point in April and May has stalled. In the depth of lockdown, buses were typically carrying 10 to 20% of pre-lockdown passengers. By mid-September, most operators reported a return to around 50 to 60% of normality, but a month or two later we are still at around that level.
