One great institution sells another at Crufts

With the coronavirus lockdown having postponed Euro Bus Expo until 2021, Routemaster RML2745 may turn out to have been the last double-decker to appear this year at the National Exhibition Centre. Terry Blackman spotted it when attending Crufts dog show on 7 March, where it was doing brisk trade in a new role as a mobile fish and chip outlet. One great British institution was selling another great British institution to those attending a great British institution. The original RML2745 started life at Croydon in December 1967. This has the body that began two years earlier on RML2380 at West Ham and assumed this identity on overhaul in 1987. Its AEC engine and hydraulic brakes were replaced with an Iveco engine and air brakes in 1991. It spent its final years with London General and was sold in 2003.
