First West of England revised its ticket offer from 11 November, reducing the number of zones from six to four: Bristol, Bath, Weston-super-Mare and West of England. The already coarse fare scale in the urban areas has been reduced to a flat fare, with a short hop. Bristol's £2 'short' and £3 'long' fares are replaced by a single £2.50 price, which is reduced to £2.07 if purchased as a mobile ticket The m-ticket fare is further reduced by buying a pack of five tickets for £10, but the three-stop hop £1 fare goes up to £1.20, and is only available on-bus. Day tickets remain at £4 if purchased off-bus, but otherwise rise from £4.50 to £5. Weekly tickets are treated similarly at £17 off-bus, but a £1.50 increase applies on-bus, taking them to £20. The fare changes also apply to the Metrobus network, which previously had fares of £1.50 and £2.50. However, £2 single tickets can be purchased from the system's iPoint stop-mounted machines. Bath fares are identical to those in Bristol, while the smaller network in Weston has lower fares of £1.57 m-ticket single, £1.70 cash or £7.50 for five single tickets. Weekly tickets are £9.50, irrespective of the method of purchase. First is also making single m-tickets available for travel on longer distance routes. These now generally have fare steps covering 3miles at a time, with fares starting at £2.50 and increasing by £1 steps to £6.50 for journeys of 12miles or more. At £3.59, the m-ticket is slightly more expensive for journeys of up to 6miles, but considerably cheaper thereafter. The prices of day tickets covering the whole territory are reduced as part of these changes.
