Titan revives its days as a Forest Ranger

Main attraction at the Epping Ongar Railway's Everything With Doors running day on 16 February was Mark Cole's preserved London Buses T1128 (WDA 3T), one of five Leyland Titans new to West Midlands PTE in 1979 and sold to London in 1984. It has been restoredto the Forest Ranger private hire livery it wore from 1987 for use from Romford garage, returning to the then standard red livery in 1992. From 1994 it wore East London red and silver.Like many operators outside London, WMPTE intended to buy large numbers of the newly launched Titan but production difficulties meant that it only bought these five, built by Park Royal, and standardised instead on the rival MCW Metrobus. London Transport was by far the biggest purchaser of Titans, buying 1,125 between 1978 and 1984.
