Sussex supermarket ceases services

A rare example of a free bus service operated directly by a supermarket has ended after 27 years. Family-owned Jempson's of Peasmarsh, near Rye in East Sussex, ran a network of routes serving its rural superstore on six days a week. Most were once-a-week out-and-back operations, providing links from villages and towns in East Sussex and Kent. Some were run less frequently, such as a service to suburban Ashford, which operated only on the fourth Monday of each month.
