Blakey brought back to life in Brontee country

Hugh Dougherty was a little disappointed that a recent 1960s weekend at the West Yorkshire village of Haworth - famed for being the home of the Brontes - didn't produce a vintage bus to rally beside the scores of period scooters and vintage cars that attended, but it came up with the next best thing in the person of a preserved bus inspector from 1969.For this was none other than Blakey, the long-suffering inspector from the ITV hit series On the Buses, who waged war with driver Stan Butler, played by Reg Vamey, and his cheeky conductor Jack Harper, played by Bob Grant, as he shouted his catch phrases 'I 'ate you, Butler!' and 'Get those buses out, Butler!'.
