The southern Norwegian city of Kristiansand is the country's second to go electric, with the delivery of five opportunity-charged Solaris Urbino 12 single-deckers. The quintet, which cost a total of €3million (£2.68million), are already at work with operator Boreal Buss on route 10 between the city centre and the outlying district of Eg and the large hospital located there. Boreal took over bus operation in Kristiansand from Nettbuss in July and promised major investment, with 145 new vehicles, mostly diesel-powered Scanias. Solaris has sold 550 buses to 20 Norwegian cities since 2006. The capital city Oslo recently ordered 127 Volvo 7900E and BYD eBus electrics and has pledged to have an all-electric fleet within 10 years.
