As is well known, Leyland built many of the bodies on its own chassis until this was curtailed at the end of 1954. Likewise, Dennis also built many of the bodies on its chassis and although this lessened considerably in postwar days, it nevertheless continued until the late 1960s. But a Leyland having a Dennis body? That is very odd. The vehicle concerned was WJ 3545, a Tiger TS4, new in March 1932 as Sheffield Joint Omnibus Committee number 45, when it had a 30-seat, rear entrance Leyland bus body. Following withdrawal, it passed to P. Hearn of London in December 1941 where, by the time Alan Cross photographed it in April 1948, it had been fitted with a rebuilt, secondhand, centre entrance Dennis coach body from a Lancet of circa 1935.
