XF1 returns to north London

Preserved Daimler Fleetline XF1, new to London Transport in 1965 and preserved in London Country green and yellow, was one of the stand-out vehicles on six additional services operated during a 48hr strike by Underground drivers on the Piccadilly Line from noon on 26 September. The Park Royal-bodied Fleetline helped provide a supplementary service on the 91 between Holloway and Aldwych, where the London Bus Museum, Red Routemaster and London Bus Company also provided vehicles. Although bought for its Country Area, LT tested the eight-strong XF fleet twice on Central Area routes, from Highgate garage in 1966 on route 271 (Highgate Village-Moorgate) and from Stamford Hill in 1967-69 on route 67 (Northumberland Park-Wapping).
