SOME PERSONAL VIEWS ON THE BASIC RESEARCH OF NATURAL SCIENCES IN CHINA

摘要

Mankind is going to stride across the threshold of the new century while world science advances by leaps and bounds. At the same time, China will enter a comparatively well-off state in terms of its economic development and its next step forward is to be a moderately developed country in the interna- tional community. At the 15th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, Jiang Zemin once again appealed to the people, calling for "a national rejuvenation with the aid of science and education" and "the national strategy for sustainable develop- ment."
