Observation of the internal membrane system of COS cells by x-ray microscopy

摘要

To enhance contrast of x-ray images at specific sites, potassium manganate was used as a fixative of COS cell. We could observe mitochondria, endoplasmic reticulum and plasma membrane by x-ray microscopy. Wet x-ray images show a little difference in electron microscopic (EM) images, while dried images were very similar to EM image.
