Differences in Accessibility to the Job Market according to Social Status and Place of Residence in the Paris Area

A comparison of statistical data shows social disparities in terms of access to the labour market in Ile-de-France (Greater Paris) are linked to where different groups are living and working, and to the access they have to means of transport. Better-off social groups, more or less clustered in the Paris area, enjoy good access to a spatially extensive labour market. Underprivileged groups are far more scattered and, despite the efficiency of the public transport system, have less access to that system and, hence, to the labour market.
