In this thought-provoking book, Paul Mees provides a very personal and frank critique of many aspects of public transport planning, finance, and operations in Australia, New Zealand, the US, and the UK. He does not pull any punches in lambasting the sheer stupidity, incompetence and lack of common sense demonstrated by some managers, planners, and government officials responsible for the inefficiency, ineffectiveness, and poor service that characterize many public transport systems. His criticism is all the more damning in light of the many positive examples of superbly designed and run public transport systems in countries such as Switzerland and Germanyu.
