No Such Thing as a Sustainable City?

This book covers the critically important topic of designing sustainable cities. It introduces the work of the EPSRC (Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council) VivaCity2020 project, a collaborative effort between various research institutions (Lancaster University, Salford University, University College London, University of the West of England, University of Sheffield and London Metropolitan University). The project was a substantial effort, carried out over five years, focusing on the question 'how to make the 24-hour city sustainable'. It was part of the wider Sustainable Urban Environment research series from the EPSRC, funded over the last 15 years.
