Across the U.S., rooftop units (RTUs) cool about 60% of commercial buildings. The failure of an RTU often requires an immediate replacement, and that urgency can lead to a replacement with a low-cost, locally available unit rather than an efficient unit that will save owners money over its service life. Without proper planning and technical support, an owner's opportunity for energy savings through proper sizing and a high-efficiency unit is easily missed.
