Seeing cents

My position within the office of Foreign Buildings Operations has given me the opportunity to work on a new embassy building at Pariser Plate, next to the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin. An architect was chosen through a design competition to, as the FBO's deputy assistant secretary put it: "Produce the most appropriate architecture for the new US embassy in Berlin, while being assured the selected design would meet our stringent technical criteria and could be built within budget."
