When it comes to hotels, it has been quite a 12 months for me. For 20 years it feels as if I have stayed at the same hotel whatever the geographical location, but this year they have all been so architecturally different. My gold replica of the World Cup goes to Madeley Court Hotel in Shropshire. It was built as a summer residence for the prior of Wenlock Abbey in the 12th century.
