So what's it like being a construction academic? Well, for a start, there's a lot less travelling. "One of the features of the construction industry is that you can be working anywhere, particularly as the industry moves towards frameworks and away from regional and local contractors," says Martyn Jones, principal lecturer in construction management at the University of the West of England.
